The Control Systems Engineer supports business operations by providing Asset Engineering Services on site at Bluewater’s Power Station. Working in a collaborative team of engineering, technical and management staff, the role is responsible for asset management and technical support across all Instrumentation and Process Control Systems on site.

Job Requirements:

As a Control Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Providing technical expertise on all aspects of site instrumentation and control systems
  • Supporting and providing technical advice to Operational Teams to ensure plant reliability and efficiency is maintained
  • Ensuring equipment life cycle costing and analysis is effectively carried out
  • Leading root cause analysis to rectify plant process issues
  • Developing and planning forced outage, work scopes and plant optimisation initiatives
  • Reading and interpreting technical documentation and system diagrams
  • Coordinating vendor agreements for service providers
  • Providing reports monthly and on an ad hoc basis
  • Effectively communicating, understanding and addressing any plant issues raised


  • High attention to detail and the ability to work logically, consistently and accurately
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects at one time and be able to deliver them on time
  • Have a proactive and motivated approach to identify areas of improvement and problem solve
  • High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Technical Competencies/ Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an electrical or process control engineering discipline (required)
  • At least 3 years’ practical experience preferably in thermal power stations or heavy process industry
  • Programmed and tested DCS and PLC based process control system. Past experience of Yokogawa is highly regarded.
  • Strong familiarity with control system administration, networks and functional tests.
  • Significant experience with PLC and HMI programming.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Suite, SAP, report writing and Project Management Applications
  • Western Australian C Class driver’s license
