Our busy rural practice is looking for a full time GP to work Monday to Friday with the option of some evening on call and weekend work.

About our practice…

St Luke's Family Practice is a busy rural practice with two practice locations. We are seeking a General Practitioner for a full-time role. You will work within the clinic Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm. Additionally, you will have the option to work a one in seven On-Call rosters to the local health district. Having a passion for rural medicine will help in this position.

You will be joining a well-established clinic and supported by full time nursing staff, visiting allied health and medical specialists and dedicated administration staff. The practice is within proximity of the local pharmacy, pathology and radiology as it is located on the hospital grounds within the town. The hospital has recently had a major upgrade, boasting a new Emergency Department, Extended Community and Aboriginal Health Services, Visiting Specialists Consulting Rooms, plus a lot more.

Job Requirements:

About the position…

The patient base you will support includes indigenous health, chronic disease management and complex, co-morbid cases. Having experience within these fields is highly regarded. Anesthetic experience is desirable, but not essential. The local hospital currently sources Anesthetists from out of town, however full lists available to the right candidate. Excellent remuneration package on offer. Permanent or trial period on offer and full assistance with paperwork available.

This Great Southern region of Western Australia will have you in what is commonly referred to as the Heart of the Great Southern. Access to all amenities that could be required are available in our town and Perth, the Capital City of Western Australia, is approximately 260-kilometer driving distance. Albany, our closest major regional center is approximately 170-kilometer distance.

There are three primary schooling options and one high school in the town to support families of all ages and sizes.

Katanning has a large sporting community boasting a wonderful recreational facility. Sports such as netball, basketball, football, soccer and hockey are all hosted here. The gymnasium has also had a recent upgrade.

It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Medical Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or eligible to get registered
  • Experience working as a GP
  •  Experience in Emergency Department - desirable but not essential
  • Passion for Rural Medicine Highly Regarded
  • Excellent English language skills
  • VR or non-VR GPs will be considered
  • Willingness to Commit to a 3 Year Contract
