Maintenance Officer

Wajarri Enterprises Limited (WEL) is the Corporate Arm for the Wajarri Yamaji Group which comprises the Wajarri Yamaji Aboriginal Corporation, the Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC) for the Wajarri Yamaji People of the Gascoyne/Murchison region of Western Australia and the WWBL Trust (Winja Wajarri Barna Limited). The Wajarri Yamaji native title determination is one of the largest in Western Australia.

WEL have entered into a joint venture with Ventia to manage the SKAO Telescope Project construction camp, Nyingari Ngurra Village.  The Project is an international effort to build the world’s largest and most capable radio astronomy observatory, designed to enable transformational science that will change our understanding of the universe.

Job Requirements:

We are looking for a dedicated Maintenance Officer of Aboriginal descent to join our team at the Village.

  • 14 day on/7 day off roster.
  • Meals and accommodation provided on site.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks on a range of equipment, buildings and facilities.
  • Gardening and landscaping activities including pressure cleaning, sweeping, pruning, weeding and spraying.
  • Ensure the proper and safe use and storage of all materials, equipment and chemicals.

Requirements:

  • General handy-person and carpentry skills.
  • Sound verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use power tools, lawnmowers etc.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote team.
  • Reliability and punctuality.

Candidates must be willing to participate in the following:

  • National Police Check
  • Pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Site specific SKAO induction
