The mine is located on the Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt, which forms part of the Yilgarn Craton in Western Australia. It is a highly mineralised granite-greenstone terrain with world-class deposits of gold and nickel. St Ives has produced more than 10.5 million ounces of gold, with the first major gold mining expedition commencing in the mid-1980s.

St Ives Gold Mine operates mainly on a residential basis, with employees either living in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie as well as having a fly-in and fly-out option for those not living locally.

With a 10-year life of mine, stability is also on offer.

Role Details:

Reporting to the OHS Coordinator you will be responsible for supporting and provision of Site and Department safety management systems and initiatives. St Ives offers all aspects of gold mining on site with Undergrounds, Open Pits, and Processing.

This role can be offered as residential in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie on 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off roster OR Fly in Fly out from Perth on 8 days on 6 days off roster.

About the role:

  • Engender stakeholder confidence and protect business interests by maintaining a high degree of confidentiality in communications and ensuring sensitive information is kept secure
  • Prepare and distribute quality health and safety information reports, bulletins and memoranda
  • Facilitate site inductions, OHS meetings and site OHS presentations to employees
  • Manage and maintain currency of relevant standards and operating procedures
  • Lead and facilitate incident investigations, risk assessments and critical risk management processes
  • Contribute to maintaining site certification in ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards by completing compliance audits as per site schedule and addressing non-conformances promptly
  • Conduct audits and inspections ensuring compliance with Site and Department standards

 

About you:

  • Qualification in OH&S
  • Demonstrated understanding & application of relevant legislation
  • Experience with conducting Incident Investigations, preferably ICAM Methodology and Formal Risk Assessments
  • Training and Assessment TAE40116 certificate would be advantageous
  • Lead Auditor Qualifications advantageous
  • Possession of a valid Driver's Licence
  • Experience using INX package highly regarded
  • Previous mining experience highly regarded
