Wajarri Yamaji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (WYAC) is the Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC) for the Wajarri Yamaji people of the Gascoyne/Murchison Region of Western Australia.  The Wajarri Yamaji Native Title determination is one of the largest in Australia.

WYAC is seeking an experienced Project Officer to join the team in our Geraldton Office, offering a competitive salary with the opportunity for salary sacrifice and friendly & flexible working environment.

Job Requirements:

The Role

This position is one of two responsible for assisting WYAC meet our joint management obligations in respect to either the Northern or Southern Conservations Estates on Wajarri Yamaji Country, as per the Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) with the State of Western Australia.

Selection Criteria

  • Previous experience in a similar role(s).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all mediums.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of conservation & land management, including cultural heritage management, management of conservation reserves, nature conservation and recreational site management.
  • No encumbrance on the ability to travel & stay overnight in remote locations (as required).
  • Proficient in the use of technology, including MS Office and client management systems.
  • Excellent presentation skills and confidence delivering ideas and opportunities; with a regard for target audience.
  • Understanding of and a commitment to occupation, health & safety.

Beneficial but not essential for you to also demonstrate:

  • Qualifications in project management, natural resources management or community development.
  • An understanding of Wajarri Yamaji People & local issues affecting them.
  • Previous experience working in Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation(s).
